Creating an Encounter
From an Appointment
The most common way to create an encounter:
- Open a Patient Appointment with status "Scheduled" or "Checked In"
- Click the Create > Patient Encounter button
- The encounter auto-populates:
- Patient details
- Practitioner information
- Appointment reference
- Department
- Complete the clinical documentation and Submit
Standalone Encounter
To create a Patient Encounter, go to:
Home → Healthcare → Consultation → Patient Encounter
For walk-in patients or situations where an appointment wasn't booked:
- Go to Patient Encounter list
- Click + Add Patient Encounter
- Select the Patient and Practitioner
- Fill in the clinical details and Submit
Inpatient Encounter
For patients admitted to the facility:
- Open the Inpatient Record
- Click Create > Patient Encounter
- The encounter is linked to the inpatient stay
- Multiple encounters can be created during a single admission (daily rounds, specialist consultations)
